I know a lot of you already know this (don't you just love facebook!) but for those who don't here is some baby info.
We had the ultrasound on Tuesday. Everything looks great. We had hoped to find out the gender but found out that I am actually about 2.5 weeks off in my dating so instead of being 18 weeks I am almost 16. Because of this the Dr. wasn't able to tell the gender. He said it probably is a girl but boy parts can easily hide at 16 weeks. *Sigh* So we will have our final surprise in late Decemeber. My due date changed from the 13th of Dec to New Years Eve. Depending on the Dr. schedual the c-section will be schedualed sometime between the 21st and Christmas. My vote is the 21st so I can be out of the hospital and home to spend Christmas with the kids. We will have a better idea of schedualing next month at my next appointment.
So there you have it. A New Years baby who may or may not be a girl. :D

Earwigs
We have been invaded by earwigs. I do not exagerate when I say this. I have never in my life seen so many earwigs EVERYWHERE. I can not be sure but I think they be the problem insect in the potatoes as they cover the ground and plants. They are all over the yard and now they are in the house. I kill at least 10 a day in the house myself and the kids go on sprees themselves. I don't know what to do to get rid of them.

I have been searching online to find a solution but so many places say to let them be as they are beneficial in the garden. WHAT! I did just find one site that reccommends Diatomaceous Earth. I have never used DE before but have read its many praises for years. I think I will head to the garden store today and see if they have any.
I checked on the potatoes last night and they are looking awful. Really at this point I think it may be best to dig up what we have and enjoy baby potatoes. *Sigh* Its disappointing to deal with a loss like this but I suppose that is what I get for the neglect. I am still unsure as to what is killing the plants. Its not blight, verticullum wilt, potato beetles, or blister beetles. Really the only insect that is out there in any sort of quantity are the earwigs. Everything I have read says they wont obliterate a crop (other than corn) but really I am starting to doubt that. The potatoes themselves are absolutly beautiful and taste amazing so I am sure there isnt any grub or wire worm issues. I just dont know.
Tonight we will begin setting up more raised beds for the fall garden and next years garden. We went 12 inches deep with the first 3 we built this spring. After the heavy rainfall and maintance watering we have seen a lot of packing (lack of compost and organic materials for sure) of the dirt. I think the 12 inches is to deep for our heavy clay soil. The new boxes will be 8 inches but we will till farther down before setting them up. Hopefully we can get some straw and compost to add in so it can sit and break down over winter.
This weekends to do list:
Build raised beds (probably 10 more 3ftx16ft 8in deep)
Build chicken coop
Order chickens
Till and prep space for berries and fruit trees
Till side yard and prep for bricking and herb beds
That will definatly keep us busy this weekend but with any luck we should be able to get a good portion of it done. Pictures to come of all of our projects and garden.

Fall Gardening
I am not a fan of the summertime really. The heat kicks my butt (must be something to do with being a redhead with albino skin!) and really makes me miserable. The really great thing about the summer though (and you all know where this is going right?) is the garden. Since our garden this year is a fraction of what it normally is I am for the first time planning a fall garden. I have no clue how to plant a fall garden. There seems to be a lack of zone specific (I am either a 5a or 5b depending on who I ask) help online and its left me stumbling a little. Here is the for sure line up:
Peas
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Greens (I plan to try some that we havent had before)
Carrots
Other than that I am stumped. I need to start those seeds here pretty soon I belive but once again I am not too sure. I will be reading and searching the books this week and quite possibly head over to the extension office and see what info they have. I am excited to try a fall garden though. Each spring it warms up so fast that I dont get very good yeilds from some plants so I am hoping this is a way to stock the freezer better.
Hopefully this week Dean will make it to building the chicken coop. We never bothered with it after the old one blew over in late winter since we were selling the house. Now we will not have fresh eggs for winter but at least we can get some hens that will grow nicely before the cold sets in.
There is so much to do around here, our list is seriously a mile long and of course I add more things to it daily. We are just slowly going through and getting things done that we can.

I am back
I have largely ignored this blog since we decided months ago to sell the house. With all the new developments as of late I think I am ready to come back here and start posting again. All my carefully laid plans, goals, and what nots have been thrown out the window and its time to get back in check.
Last week when we moved, HOLY COW, my house was so dirty!!! It was very obvious to me that the first thing that went out the window was my cleaning schedual. That is a must to get back on track with. I want to revamp it a little bit but I am trying to think of a few thing before i do that. I am excited to get back to a routine and schedual like I used to have. It just works for me and my day goes so much smoother.
The garden needed to be rescued desperatly so this morning before it even had a chance to consider warming up I managed to weed the whole thing! WOOT WOOT. Man it looks nice out there now that you can actually see the plants! We have a nasty something eating our potatoes but for the life of me I can figure out what it is. I did pull up a few plants the other day and those potatoes tasted so very incredibly yummy. If they keep this up I will be in potato heaven come September or so. Everything else is looking great, the carrot tops are about 12-18 inches tall and are so pretty! With the cool season that we have had I dont really know how much I will get as everything was stunted for so long but I am hopefull.
Canning this year is going to be slim I do belive. Since it has been so cold and rainy for so long strawberries did horrible. The wonderful u-pick farm couldnt even open for u-pickers. Sad sad sad. I managed to get a great deal at the grocery store the other day on organic berries so I was able to put up a total of 7 pints of jam. This is no where near what my family eats in a year so I will have to try some different berries or fruits later in the season. If all else fails I will drive down to Brigham City and hit the fruit stands down there. I am holding out for local produce though. I do need to track down some local farms for corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and a few other things I didnt even plant this year. I am hoping that I will be able to get something at reasonable prices. Regardless later in the month I will start spending the nights making things like stew and soups as these are so handy to just have on the shelf. I havent done much canning of these things in the past but this last year proved to be pretty hectic that I think having some convenience type things would be really helpful.
I will be thinking of some things to post about here in the next few days. I really want to get to the point I blog everyday as i have so much extra floating around in my head all the time! I need to get it out. For now though I am off to get everything ready for the kids to start school on Monday. :) They are excited and I am looking forward to the routine myself.

And you thought your week was bad!
Seriously this last week is something that is not likely to ever be forgotten by myself or Dean. It flat out sucked, in fact if I was the kind of gal that swore like a sailor I would share with you exactly just how last week was. But alas I am a nice young lady who doesnt use those words so you will have to live with sucked.
I will sum it up because honestly I would love to just have forgot it all. We have been planning a move for months now. Originally we were going to move to Utah for a job that was going to pay well and what not. That job fell through a few weeks ago when we were notified that the pay structure for it had been changed to a straight commission only (as opposed to the base plus commission before). Okay now big deal we'll find something else as we already had renters lined up for this place as of July 1st. So we did some pondering and what have you and came up with the wacky nutty idea to move to Burley (near Deans parents). This is where it gets fun. There is a home that Deans grandpa owns and rents out. His current tenents suck so we were going to move in on July first and everything was going to be hunky dory right.....ahhh not so. Two days before we are supposed to move (mind you the house is almost entirely packed at this point) we are given the wonderful news that the house will not be available to move into afterall until July 20th. Ummmm okay where in the crap will we live for nearly a month and 3 small children in tow? Oh no worries live with family. Hahaha now that is funny. Graciously both my inlaws and Grandpa offered to let us stay with them. As much as we didnt not want to after a few days of complete and under stress we almost decided to do it. Then we decided against it and called a friend to stay in their camper trailer. Okay were all set right? lol no.
I call the renters the July 2nd to tell them we are headed over to fix the small leak in the bathroom when I am bombarded with a polite yet snippy dumping that my house is filthy, so filthy that it will take 2 days to clean (which will be deducted from next months rent ofcourse), there is mold growing in the basement, and water puddling. HUH? What? I just left the place 24 hours ago and it wasnt like that. So we fly over the house expecting the worse. We didnt find it because IT DIDNT EXIST! The house was completely clean. The "filth" was a game closet I totally forgot to pack, some crumbs in a drawer that was missed in the wipe down, a oven that I forgot to turn on self cleaning (admitadly that was pretty bad!) and a freezer that had a spill (okay sticky juice suice is no picnic so I dont blame her on this one). However the rest was completely taken care of since I had some awesome friends help me clean the place out. Then the pooling water downstairs that I was told was just not safe and they wouldnt put their family in danger over (because it sat where the dryer would be) was a small puddle from the left over water in the lines when we disconnected. Grr. Oh but you might be thinking what about the mold, no one wants to live with mold it will kill you. Oh yes the mold (that she was positive was mold because she has seen it before) this horrible horrible mold... was wet cement. Yes you read that wet cement from the above mentioned puddle. I mean seriously who doesnt bend over and check it out before they freak that its mold? My renter apperently. Oh well no big deal all of this really. We cleaned up and all was good until we tackled the bathroom leak.
Lets just say the small crack in the pipe we thought was the issues was nothing. Nope nothing at all, the problem is that our entire drain line in the bathroom is plugged so bad that we cannot get a hanger down it!
After all this and a bunch of other stressful things I wont post online we wanted to cry. Cry like babies. Throw fits like babies, scream like babies. So this is the point where I politely and calmly called the renter and told her deal is off here is her money back and we headed back to Burley to get our things.
We moved out for a whole whopping 3 days and it will take my funeral to make me move from this house. I flat out refuse, will not consider, will not move EVER AGAIN. It would take a very large sum of money (were talking Bill Gates isnt even worth enough to budge this body) and a large crow bar to ever pry me from this house. Not even the call of the beautiful pretty nice and cool northeast can sway me on this one. I. AM. DONE. MOVING. FOREVER.
This may not sounds bad to all of you but rest assured I am editing quite a bit and remember that sailor language, well that could come in to play quite a bit if I didnt. So here we are throwing ourselves a little house warming party with fresh groceries and a hooked up sound system and honestly I couldnt be happier.
I love home.
